My name is Shlomo.
I am a food addict and compulsive overeater.
Step Ten: "Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it."
Steps 10-12 are the daily growth and development recovery steps.
Let us get to the assignments.
1. Read the Big Book page 84: "This thought brings us to Step Ten...Love and tolerance of others is our code."
Mark the sentences that resonate with you. Pay special attention to the following: step ten is a real time on-the-spot check and setting right, it is used immediately whenever a defect appears, the step comprises steps 4-9, this is not just maintenance, it is a growth and development step, it is a lifetime discipline and way of life, getting out of our self-centeredness by helping others, our code of living to which we aspire now is love and tolerance. Reflect and share with us.
2. Read step ten in the A.A 12&12.
Concentrate on step ten as a spot check . It is not something we do at night or in the morning or any other regular time. This is a tool to be used immediately whenever a defect raises it head. We will deal with the nighttime daily inventory and the semiannual inventory in step eleven. Mark the sentences that resonate with you. Pay special attention to the following: emotional hangover and correction of errors now, the inventory as a basis of daily discipline, the spiritual axiom, dealing with anger, development of self restraint, sidestepping traps, traps of indulgence and prideful self confidence, tolerance and love, changing attitude and behavior towards others, admitting mistakes, rationalizing defects. Reflect and share with us.
3. Read step ten in the OA 12&12
Here, too, concentrate on the real time spot check. Mark the sentences that resonate with you, and the sentences that add to your information and understanding. Reflect and share with us.
4. A) Copy the following sentence from the Big Book page 64: "When the spiritual malady...and physically." Reflect on this promise and its meaning. Share with us.
B) Read the Big Book pages 84-85: "And we have ceased fighting...in fit spiritual condition." Those are called the step ten promises . They are the materialization of the promise in A). Mark the sentences that resonate with you. Pay special attention to the following: the miracle of the removal of the obsession without us fighting with it, the need for daily action to keep our fit spiritual condition, correct use of our will on a daily basis, the difference between recovered and cured according to the Big Book (not the dictionary definition). Reflect and share with us.
5. Step ten action.
Make a discipline of working step ten every day without fail. Remember this step is not limited to a particular time of day. It is an on the spot step in real time
A) I suggest you carry a small notebook and pen with you wherever you go.
B) Become aware of your feelings and actions during the day and deal immediately with every defect that raises its head.
C) If it is a resentment or fear, do a step four on it immediately in real time. First in your head and then, when you can, in writing.
Share with someone who understands as soon as you can. (Step 5)
D) For any other defect including the resentments and fears do the actions of steps 6-7. Always share with someone who understands when you can.
E) If you hurt or harmed someone, do the actions of steps 8-9 immediately if it is a simple amend. If it is not a simple amend discuss it first with your sponsor or someone who understands and do the amend as soon as possible.
F) Remind yourself to find opportunities to help others during the day. Write down what you do during the day to help others.
G) Remind yourself of the code "Love and tolerance of others," and aspire to follow it. Begin by practicing restraint.
H) During the day ask God many times to guide you on the path.
