Hi everyone.
My name is Shlomo.
I am a food addict and compulsive overeater.

Step Six: "Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character."

ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Read pages 75-76 in the Big Book "Returning home...we then look at Step Six."
What made you ready for step six? Reflect and share with us.

2. Read page 60 in the big book "Do not be discouraged...rather than spiritual perfection."
Reflect and connect to the word 'entirely' in step six. Share with us.

3. Read pages 44-45 in the Big Book "If a mere code of morals...they failed utterly.
Reflect and connect to the word God in step six.
Share with us.

4. Read page 76 in the Big Book "We then look at Step Six...we ask God to help us be willing."
Pay special attention to: prayer for willingness, Why do we still cling to some of our defects after admitting they are objectionable?
Reflect and share with us.

5. Read step six in the A.A 12&12.
Pay special attention to: clinging to defects as a sign of immaturity,
The reasons for the difference in the release by God from compulsive eating and from character defects,
Reasons for clinging to different types of defects, difference between step one and the other steps,
Never say never.
Mark the sentences that resonate with you and the sentences that describe you.
Reflect and share with us.

6. Read Step Six in the OA 12&12.
Mark the sentences that resonate with you and the sentences that describe you.
Pay attention to the reasons we have for clinging to defects.

7. Action.
Make a two column table of the defects you found in your step four and five.
One column will list the defects one under the other and the second column will list the corresponding assets that should eventually modify, lessen, or replace them.
For example:
Resentment---Forgiveness, Acceptance
Fear ---Courage , Faith
Dishonesty ---Honesty
Overeating ---Moderate eating
Etc...
Go over each of your defects carefully and ask yourself if you really want God to remove it.
If you still cling to a defect write down the reasons and pray for willingness.

I suggest you pray on a regular basis.
