The Recovery Group
Dear Web Visitors and Recovery Friends,
My name is Donna and I am a compulsive overeater. I am going to be sharing with you my own experience, strength and hope as it relates to Questions 20-30. I have been a member of OA for about 20 years now. The responses that I will give to the questions represent my own views ... they may or may not echo yours. I hope you will share your responses with your home loop. I am honored to share these words as my service. I pray you will find something useful in the words that I write.
Please note that previous questions are already up
on the web site and can be found at http://recovery.hiwaay.net/questions/index.html
I am Donna and am grateful to be a compulsive eater in recovery.
The Thirty Questions are a tool for journaling and I am happy to
send them to you each week.
Read Step Three in the Big Book, and comment on the
statement: "Willingness is the way to a faith that works."
I like this statement, because it reminds me that it is not through
my own power that I can be relieved of the effects of my addiction.
When I begin each day, I commit each of its 24 hours to my HP.
It is then HP who takes the reigns, and directs my day. It is my
job to listen, and follow. The extent to which I am tuned into my
"God connection" is the extent to which I am able to discern
God's will for my life, each day.
For those of us who have been through many ups and downs in
our recovery journey, coming to Step 3 with an expectant attitude
is sometimes challenging. We remember the days of past
abstinence: days when our connection to God gave serenity and
joy to our lives. But we also remember our humanity; our falling
short, at times. Those who are new to the Program may approach
Step 3 with wonder: Can this work???
The answer lies in an attitude of willingness. We are willing to
commit our day to HP, and to believe that HP is in control. We are
willing to listen to His guidance, and to find attitudes and actions
which reflect His Will for our lives. We are willing to do this, even
when it is not easy or convenient. We are willing - because we
have come to believe that HP is able to direct us to this 24 hours
Blessings in Recovery
