The Recovery Group
Dear Web Visitors and Recovery Friends,
My name is Donna and I am a compulsive overeater. I am going to be sharing with you my own experience, strength and hope as it relates to Questions 20-30. I have been a member of OA for about 20 years now. The responses that I will give to the questions represent my own views ... they may or may not echo yours. I hope you will share your responses with your home loop. I am honored to share these words as my service. I pray you will find something useful in the words that I write.
Please note that previous questions are already up
on the web site and can be found at http://recovery.hiwaay.net/questions/index.html
Reread Step 2 and discuss and reflect on why every meeting
is assurance that God can resore us to sanity.
Coming to a meeting is a way to remind myself that the Program
offers us hope and the tools of recovery. In the rooms I have often
heard that the Program is primarily spiritual in nature. So in a
sense every OA member in the rooms who is steadfastly working
the Program represents an open "channel" to God. This brings to
each meeting a patchwork quilt of God-oriented experience which
saturates the ambience of the meeting. It can restore our own
spiritual resources every time we give ourselves over to that
I came to Program thinking that I knew all the essential facts about
my HP. Yet I was powerless over my addiction and its effect on my
life. All my "head knowledge" of God could not help me stop eating
compulsively. But in the rooms I heard story after story of people who
are also in the grip of the same demoralizing addiction which I know
only too well. Yet these people were surrendering their life daily into
the care of their HP and experiencing the daily miracles of recovery.
Each day they drew their daily "portion" of recovery from HP and found
it enough. Their testimony to these daily miracles gives me hope.
Hearing these stories; perceiving the combined force of the presence of
HP working in the lives of every member ... this is the essence of
One day at a time HP CAN restore us to sanity. This is YOUR 24 hours.
Blessings in recovery
