The Recovery Group

Dear Web Visitors and Loopies ~

Most of you who have been around TRG and the 12 Step Program are familiar with the "Thirty Questions." These questions take us through the first three steps of the AA 12+12 and the Big Book so thoroughly that we emerge from them not quite the same. Usually a sponsor will use them with his/her sponsee as they proceed through these steps before they begin to "launch out on a course of vigorous action, the first step of which is a personal housecleaning." That, of course, occurs when we begin the "action" steps ~ Steps 4 through 12.

The Recovery Group is pleased to begin a series on the Thirty Questions over the next eight months in which Shana, a precious loopie and a member of the Fellowship for 26 years, will lead us in the Thirty Questions Study. As we go through the weeks ahead, I hope you will respond to these questions on your loop in an honest and detailed manner. We welcome your thoughtful answers in the 12 step tradition of anonymity and acceptance.

I am reminded of the last part of Question 30 as I write this. And I suspect these words of the Third Step Prayer will have far more meaning to you after you have completed the Thirty Question Study than they do now. But I feel it is appropriate to welcome you to our loops, to our website and to our series with these words and to also express appreciation to Shana for her extraordinary insight into the hearts and minds of the compulsive eater.

"God, I offer myself to Thee ~
to build with me and to do with me
as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage
of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away
my difficulties, that victory over them may bear
witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love,
and Thy Way of life.
