"As you share your experience and strength in OA, please also share your hope.
Please confine your sharing to your experience with the disease of compulsive
eating, the solution offered by OA and your own recovery from the disease,
rather than just the events of the day or week. If you are having difficulties,
share how you use the program to deal with them. If you need to talk more about
your difficulties and seek solutions, we suggest you speak to your sponsor and
other members privately.
Feedback, cross talk and advice-giving are discouraged here. Cross talk is
giving advice to others who have already shared and speaking directly to
another person rather than to the group." (Note: Please do not send a subject
line with a Re: on it ... and if you must, please make sure that the majority of
your share represents your personal experience, strength and hope.
We ask everyone to respect this. The Oasis Loop Meeting has decided that the
Coordinator for this support group should have the discretion to suggest to
anyone sharing that he or she is off topic and this meeting asks you to accept
this suggestion in order to keep this loop's mission on track. Please do not
take offense at gentle reminders ... we have all had them.
By following the Twelve Steps, attending meetings regularly and using the OA
tools, tens of thousands have changed their lives. We offer hope and
encouragement here. To some, we may be the last train out of the depot and
we want to give us all our very best.
To the newcomer, we suggest attending at least six different meetings before
deciding if OA is for you. The OAsis loop meeting may not be for everyone. If
you prefer a chit-chat kind of loop or a social environment with diary-like shares,
this clearly is not where you should be. Please contact me privately and I
will give you the names of some lists you may enjoy.
Please remember our commitment to honor each others’ anonymity. ‘What you hear
here, whom you see here, when you leave here, let it stay here.’ Let us all
reach out by phone or email to newcomers, returning members and each other.
Together we get better.
If you have questions about anything at all, please don't hesitate to write to
me at OasisAdm@aol.com. We realize that some of you are new but want you to
know that in a very short time this loop, this program and these guidelines
will be as comfortable to you as an old shoe.
Thank you.
In loving service,
The Trusted Servants of OAsis
