HELP! I CAN'T GET INTO A MEETING!

There are several reasons why you may not be able to get into the Newcomers meeting room. The most common is that Java has not been enabled in your browser. To check this, follow the instructions below. Note, if you are using a browser other than Internet Explorer, the commands may be different.

Select tools from the menu bar
Select Internet options
Select the Advanced tab
Scroll down the list until you see a heading for Java.
There should be a check in the box just under the heading.

If you don't see Java listed, then you can go to:
http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp and follow the directions there to download it.

Another common cause is pop-up blockers. If Java is enabled, make sure that you do not have pop-ups blocked. You will usually see a setting for this on the tool bar or can find out about by selecting Help in your browser.

If you are using a personal firewall, you may need to add the site to the trusted site list. To do this:

Select tools from the menu bar
Select Internet options
Select the Security tab
Select Trusted Sites icon
Click on the Sites button
Type http://www.starchat.net/chat/?chan=TRGNewcomers in the top box
Select Add
Make sure that the check box for Require server verification is not checked or you won’t be able to add it.
