The coordinators for a loop have a very special role. They may function as a nurturer to help the loop grow and become stronger in supporting its members' recovery. They help newcomers feel welcome and safe on the loop and let those who choose to leave know that they will always be welcomed back with open arms. They help the loop get past potential lulls in sharing by suggesting topics that fit in with the purpose of the loop and recovery in general. They set an example by being willing to share their own stories of what they were like, what happened, and what they are like now. They gently guide the loop back to its original purpose when things seem to be getting off topic or into outside issues.
