I NEED TO RESIGN TO TAKE CARE OF MY OWN RECOVERY???

Dear (Name Deleted),

Thank you for entrusting me with your thoughts and feelings...

I am going to be perfectly honest with you, and you may not like what I have to say, but I am willing to take that chance.

Service IS the backbone of recovery. Bill W. knew it, Bob knew it, Mari knows it and I know it... When I hear that a sponsor has suggested that someone stop service work "for their recovery" it infuriates me. I understand exhaustion, burn-out, boredom, any of the things that can happen after a while, but for "our recovery" - no way...

I have been a member of OA for more than 20 years, and part of TRG since its early beginnings... I know, that as far as my recovery is concerned, had it not been for my servive work, I would have walked away. The commitment to reach out and serve other compulsive overeaters is what kept me here, when my own program was lagging and I wanted a magic cure, or worse believed myself cured.
